Hazara Diaspora Community
- A place where the Hazara diaspora comes together to share experiences, exchange ideas, and build connections
About the Hazara Diaspora
The Hazara diaspora consists primarily of Hazara communities living across Europe, North America, and Australia. It is a relatively young diaspora, with most members having settled in these regions over the past three decades.
The circumstances of Hazara communities in the diaspora differ significantly from those of Hazaras in Afghanistan. This is particularly true in Europe, where Hazara populations are spread across more than twenty countries, each with its own legal, social, and political systems.
Despite these geographic and institutional differences, Hazara communities around the world share a common identity and many common interests. In some areas, they can collaborate effectively across borders and continents. In others, national laws and civic structures create natural limitations. For example, a Hazara living in Denmark may support a Hazara association in Sweden, but cannot participate as a voting member or take part in its elections unless they meet Sweden’s residency and legal requirements.
For this reason, the Hazara diaspora cannot realistically be represented by a single institution, address, or legal framework. What it can have, however, is a shared vision, a common strategy, and collective goals that unite Hazara communities across different countries and continents.
This website aims to serve as a common platform for the Hazara diaspora. It provides a space where individuals and communities can share their experiences of social, economic, cultural, educational, and family life in their new societies. By exchanging both successes and challenges, members of the diaspora can learn from one another, identify best practices, and better understand the factors that contribute to achievement, integration, and community development.
Through dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support, we hope to strengthen connections among Hazara communities worldwide and contribute to their continued growth and success.
